Guided Visit

We are a family textile workshop in Mallorca

Since 1854

Fabrics were part of her life almost from her birth, his grandparents had a small wool weaving workshop obrat y brinet in León street number 55.

An essential visit to discover the textile crafts and authentic ikat of Mallorca

Discover the art, history and craftsmanship of Mallorca’s traditional textiles with an exclusive guided visit to the Teixits Vicens workshop in Pollença.

Founded in 1854, Teixits Vicens is a family-run textile workshop where traditional Mallorcan fabrics are still woven using techniques passed down through generations. During the visit, guests will discover the different stages of the textile-making process, explore the workshop and learn about the history and heritage behind our iconic fabrics.

For groups, we also offer the possibility of complementing the guided visit with a traditional Mallorcan tasting, creating a complete experience that combines craftsmanship, culture and local flavours.

Private and tailor-made visits available for groups.

A unique opportunity to experience Mallorca’s textile heritage from within and meet the people who continue to keep this tradition alive.

Manufacturing process

The basic part of the manufacturing process is manual, as used to be in old times. The warp is prepared based on white cotton. It is dyed in portions acording to the required pattern. This is why the Cloth of Tongues (Roba de Llengües) does not have front or back. Instead, both sides have an identical pattern.

The dying is carried out based on solid colours. Once dyed, the composition of the pattern is made. This is the most delicate, complicated process.

Later the fabric is taken to the loom to give body with linen using a flat weave. The Vicenç fabric is made up of natural fibers, 70% cotton and 30% linen. Its width is 1,50 meters.
